About the facility
After spending two years in Indonesia and growing familiar with the culture, people and its great food, we came up with the idea of bringing a distant Indonesia a bit closer to Belgrade, by opening INDO FOOD restaurant in the center of the city. We wanted to share with you, what we found fascinating about Indonesia, its culture and cuisine. For example, Indonesian cuisine is rich in spices such as chili, galangal, lemon grass, turmeric, coconut milk and various other exotic spices. The population of Indonesia is accustomed to extremely spicy food with chili whose heat they lighten up with coconut milk, cucumber, fried and crispy shrimp (krupuk), rice…. In Indonesia, hot dishes are usually served accompanied by other dishes that have a mild and neutralizing taste. For example, “Sambal” sauce, served with every dish, is made from a mixture of different types of hot peppers. In the Indonesian cuisine, among the basic ways of meat preparation one can find stews-making and long cooking. Indonesians are very familiar with many spices originally found in other Asian cuisines including a mixture of curry spices, which are placed in a number of dishes, salads, soups… In addition, many dishes are made with fruits such as banana, pineapple, salak, carambola (star fruit). Indeed, rice is an indispensable contributor and as in other Asian cuisines is being served with every meal, and usually flavored with turmeric and coconut. Our dishes are prepared in the traditional Indonesian style with specific spices giving every dish burst of flavors at the very first bite! To help us in that, we rely on our main chef, a native Indonesian, whose experience in traditional and authentic preparation of Indonesian dishes won’t leave you indifferent! Of course, only in Indonesia, can you feel the true charm and wealth of spices, ingredients and flavors. That, however, doesn’t mean you can’t taste a bit of that wealth in our “small Indonesia”- INDO FOOD restaurant, located in the center of Belgrade or in your home with your family and friends.
