Hotel Kasina is located in the center of Belgrade, across the street from the Terazija fountain that was built in 1860 during the reign of Milos Obrenovic. Hotel Kasina is one of the oldest hotels in Belgrade, it was built in 1856, and its first owner was Stevan Lukic.
Kasina was founded, because a group of citizens submitted a request to the government to establish a club, just as the English ones were at the time, and gave it the name it carries even today. The way Kasina is today, was built in 1922, and at the time it was the tallest building at Terazije. During some time in 1918 the Parliament held its meetings at the Kasina, and the National theatre plays were held there until 1920.
