About the facility

Acumincum winery was built on the basis of medieval hamam, and was named after the local Roman baths. The owner of the winery Milan Spasic, renovated the building of town mansion and abandoned wine cellar, and wine-making was initially just a hobby shared with friends. One of the few places in Serbia where you can try local Shiraz as well as other varieties of wines in an environment that exudes of history. The winery include the building built around 1760 as a parish house, while in the cellar you can find of the remains of the Turkish bath from 1566. House in Stari Slankamen area is under the Institute for protection of cultural monuments, and this extraordinary place contribute to the quality and taste of wine and makes winery Acumincum especially attractive destination along wine roads of Fruska gora mountain. Raising the vineyards, the reconstruction of the house and the construction of the winery, as well as preserving the hammam and enabling it to be available to the public was a major investment project, which took place in stages. Today, except for some final work, Acumincum is open to welcome guests who can learn the rich history of the area. There are organized tours in the winery with an explanation of the technological process and testing wine in the tasting room anticipated to accommodate up to 25 people, and there is a possibility to organize excursions to vineyards 5km away. Beside the building which is 450 years old, and beautiful position on the banks of the Danube river, visitors can try red wines that impress with distinctive flavor of Acumincum winery. Wine are produced exclusively from grapes from their own vineyards. The capacity of the winery is maximum of 20,000 liters, and so far (2014god) the wine of winery Acumincum can be found exclusively in the "boutique" sale during a visit to a winery. Soon, Shiraz from the Stari Slankamen area, will be selling in a few select wine shop and restaurant, and the plan is to introduce sales via the Internet.
