Vladicin Han

Vladicin Han Municipality situated in southern Serbia, and it reaches Grdelica Gorge to the south, the northern slopes of the Vranje basin, and mouth of Vrla, Kalimanka and South Morava Rivers. Belongs to Pcinj district, and the municipal seat is the city of Vladicin Han.


Vladicin Han is a young settlement – it was mentioned for the first time about 120 years ago, named after the lonely house - Han, located on the "imperial road" in the area of the village Kalimanci. House was built in the middle of the nineteenth century by Stefan Grk who later sold it to the Kop’s metropolitan Pajsije, by whose ecclesiastical title (Bishop) the Han was named - Vladicin Han. Since 1887. Vladicin Han is found in official documents.

Vladicin Han has abundant natural amenities: rivers (South Morava, Lepenica, Vrla, Kalimanka), lakes (Lake Jovanicka, Vlasninsko Lake), and mountains in Han, and in its vicinity (Kukavica, Cemernik, Vardenik and Vlasina plateau).

Vladicin Han and its surroundings is very rich in places of worship, and some of them have not only great spiritual value, but great historical significance too: a monastery Kacapun from the XIV-XVI century, the Church of St. Preobrazenje, and the Church of Uspenje Presvete Bogorodice from the fifteenth century of our era.
