Villages of Valjevo municipality

Valjevo is a town situated at the river Kolubara, made by two clear waters, Obnice and Jablanica. It is surrounded by mountain spurs of Povlen, Jablanik and Medvednik, and represents a significant economic, cultural and social center. At the foot of Valjevo mountain, in an almost untouched nature, are located beautiful, becaouse of Nenadovic, Desanka Maksimovic, Bishop Nikolai, monasteries Lelic and Pustinja well-known villages of Valjevska Kamenica, Gornji and Donji Taor, Pocuta, Stave.


Villages that deal with tourism have preserved nature, vast pastures and respectable household with hospitable peasants. Guests are welcomed here with bread and salt, the traditional way, served in brandy, bread and corn bread made of flour from water mills.

Valjevska is located 17 km from Valjevo. The place is famous for its hospitable people, natural food, and brandy. In addition to walking throught the raspberry orchards, blue plums, hunting society organizes hunting, fishing and hunting events. Life and customs of the village can be introduced through local handcrafts. Kamenica has an accumulation lake in which one can swim, catch fish, ride boats. There are excellent sports facilities for recreation and sports. Domestic natural food and prepared winter food can be bought.

Tourist life of Kamenica is richer for economic - tourism event ‘Petrovdan Days’, held on 12th July of each year. It nurtures rich cultural traditions, and native customs of the villages of Valjevo.

Gornji and Donji Taor are located under mountain Povlen. Preserved nature, and quiet villages make it beautiful – it’s as if time stands. Farmers here are friendly, and receive guests as if they are their own blood. At the village are sources of river Skrapez of natural beauty and national significance. When going down the river one can see Taorska springs with 12 beautiful water mills. Here at the springs you can track wool with peasants, and learn valuable skills of old crafts, familiar traditions and culture of the village.

Pocuta is located 23 km away from Valjevo. Situated at the foothills of Jablanik and Povlen. Bordered by three mountain rivers, spreads to numerous clearings and pastures where you can hunt, or gather medicinal herbs. Canyon of river Jablanica, and numerous streams are suitable for swimming and fishing. In the canyon of river Jablanica monastery Pustinja from the XIV century is located, with elements of the Raska school. It has well preserved frescoes from the 1622, rich in colors. Near is the old church Jovanja (XVII century), monastery Celije (eighteenth century), St.Nicholas in Lelic, where are the relics of St..Nikolai Velimirovic are kept.

Stave are located at the foot of Medvednik, the first mountain of Valjevo massif. It is located 23 km away from Valjevo. Orchards rich in blue plums fill the village with its beauty. Here, tradition of ancestors of Ilija Bircanin, old Serbian houses, customs and folklore are preserved, which provides a full relaxation for someone from the urban parts. Those who enjoy hunting have the choice of bird game, wild boar and doe. Guests can, if they want, prepare the food for the winter by themselves, sweet jams, and attend the coocking of brandy, with tasting the product.

Brankovina is located 10 km from Valjevo. It abounds in natural beauty and historical landmarks.

Brankovina is famous because of the family Nenadovic, statesmen and writers from the nineteenth century: Prince Aleks, Duke Jakov, Archpriest Matej, Duke Sima, and Ljuba Nenadovića. In the courtyard of the church of St. Arahngels Michael and Gabriel, in the shade of ancient linden trees, our great poet Desanka Maksimovic lies. Schools of Mateja Nenadovic, Desanka Maksimovic, ‘Museum of Education’, ‘Uncle Ljuba’s Wyat’, registry, and monuments of popular architecture are all in Brankovina.

Brankovina Village is ready to receive tourists with its wealth of natural fruits (raspberries, plums), ecological, healthy food, so-called houses of ‘dzemat’, hospitable people, events which are organized (Dan raspberry).

Villages of Sabac municipality

Sabac is a city on between Macva, Pocerina, and Posavina, economic and cultural center of this region. Guests can visit the medieval fortress on the banks of Sava (1470), Museum with 4000 exhibits, ‘Vladicin konak’ with the library, the Orthodox church with a monument dedicated to the ones killed during the liberation wars in 1912 - 1918, the house and grave of Kosta Abrasevic, etc.

In the vicinity of Misar - a place famous for the Misar battle (1806), with monument dedicated to Karadjordje and Misar heroes and museums, is Cer mountain - resort, with monuments from the First World War, monasteries Kaona, Petkovic, Cokesina.

Lipolist lies on the slopes of Cer mountain. It is located 20 km away from Sabac. Cer, which 1 km away from Lipolist, offers excellent conditions for hiking, hunting and picking mushrooms. The vicinity of the artificial lake, and the Drina River offers fishing.

There is a possibility of trips to the monastery Cokesina, Radovasnica, Petkovic, Tekeris and Misar. Culture and entertainment of Lipolist are completed by the event called "Dani Ruze Lipolista", which is held every year.

Cerovac is village of hill type, with mild climate and preserved nature. Through the village two rivers flow, Dobrava and Pljova, and near is monastery Kaona. At about 1.5 km from the village there is an open Olympic pool.
