Gucevo

Mountain Gucevo is located not far from Loznica, above the Koviljaca Spa. Gucevo is the most western part of Podrinje-Valjevo mountains. It is 15 km long, and rises from the valley of the Drina, then goes due southeast. The highest point of Gucevo is Crni Vrh (799 meters). Mountain Gucevo is result of the faulting of terrain, pushing of magmatic rocks, which caused the occurrence of mineral water, whose benefits can be used in Koviljaca Spa. There are numerous sources of cold drinking water.


Gucevo is a wooded mountain, where the most common are hornbeam, oak, beech, maple, black locust and black pine. Mountain slopes are periodically intersected by meadows. There can be found many species like rabbits, foxes, wolves, dears, and many species of birds.

Gucevo is known for the first trench battle in the world that happened in 1914., during the war operations in World War I. In honor of Serbian soldiers that died, a memorial ossuary was built on the top of the mountain, in the form of the pyramid that is 15 meters high.

There are resorts, sports facilities and fitness trails at the altitude of 675 meters, suitable for the height preparation of sports teams. Gucevo climate is beneficial for people who have problems with asthma, because it is rich in oxygen and ozone. Research Hydrometeorological Service have confirmed that the air in Gucevo, which is produced by beech forest, is one of the cleanest in our region.
