Villages of Kosjeric municipality

Kosjeric is located in western Serbia. Most of the villages are located in river valleys, not far from forests, fields, and meadows, so Kosjeric area is an ideal place for the people who love villages for its natural beauty. Very good geographical position of Kosjeric is increased by the proximity of famous tourist centers Zlatibor and Divcibare.


The municipality is located close to a hundred cultural and historical monuments. Wooden Church in the village Seca Reka is one of the most valuable cultural and historical monuments. It was built in the fifteenth century, repeatedly burned and rebuilt. Today’s look it got at the time of Karadjordje, in 1812. The church has very valuable artifacts: a number of icons, ‘Zlatne dveri’ brought from Herzegovina, chalice from 1812, and relics brought from Mount Athos.

Seca Reka, winner of the ‘Tourist Flower’ for tourism development, is located 7 km from Kosjeric. It is a hill village located below the hill Grad, at an altitude of 480-550 meters.Through the village flows the river Secica, which is rich in fish, mills trout. It is surrounded by mountains with numerous picnic and hunting grounds. Its tourist value is increased by many cultural and historical monuments, most notably the church log cabin from the XV century.

Ethnographic value, traditional folk customs, costumes, folklore and cuisine are presented each year at events, most notably of which is ‘Dani Cobana’ - a manifestation of the original folk creativity.

Varda is situated on the slopes of mountain Povlen, at an altitude of 900 meters. It is located 18 km from Kosjeric. The village center has a boarding type hotel with about 90 beds, which provides all conditions for organizing and carrying out programs of school in the nature. Facilities for indoor sports are near by.

Varda is surrounded by young forests, pastures and fruit plantations. There is a possibility for hiking and hunting big and small game.

Makoviste is 21 km far from Kosjeric. It lies on the slopes of the mountains Povlen and Maljen, at an altitude of 800-1000 meters. Makoviste is characterized by preserved nature, endless meadows, pastures and streams with drinking water. At the source of the river Godljevace are Taorska springs, a unique source of mountain water with waterfalls, 2 to 10 meters high.

Mionica Kosjericka is located near the tourist center of Divcibare, on the slopes of hills Subjel, and 9 km away from Kosjeric, at an altitude of 620 meters. The village is of hill type, with rich meadows and pastures. Below Subjel originates river Mionica, in whose flows small fish typical for mountain rivers (chub, gudgeon and sail) are found, and fished. Hunting is possible too.

Kosjeric (village) is located on the outskirts of the city Kosjeric, at the foot of mountain ranges Drmanovine and Crnokosa. All households engaged in tourism provide a complete service, comfortable accommodation in houses full of comfort and environmentally healthy foods which, from their fields and farms, villagers are preparing themselves.
Because of the beauty and accessibility for tourists, Drmanovina mountains are especially attractive. Its highest peak is Grad (1022 meters) and Crnokosa, both covered with dense forest vegetation. Guests who are resting in the village can use all the contents of Kosjeric, such as a sports center with Olympic pool, soccer field, courts for indoor sports that have lights and can be used in the evening, and there is diverse cultural entertainment.
